Biography
Albert Carter was born in Hammersmith Hospital London in April 2003 to parents, Andy and Sarah Carter. Recognizing the need for a good education, Andy and Sarah provided him with private tutorage since he was just two years old. Motorsport is very important to the family but education must be priority!
At just six weeks old, he was introduced to the world of motorsport when he was taken to Santa Pod Raceway, the home of European Drag Racing in England. As Andy sat him proudly on a barrel on Nitro his hope was that his son would grow to love the motorsport environment and one day, express a desire to himself become a champion like his Father.
Trips to the Pod became common in Albert’s early years, along with visits to tracks in Germany, Finland, Sweden, Norway and America as Andy Carter pursued his FIA European Top Fuel Dragster schedule. Andy Carter (www.andycarter.net) has been participating in motorsport since he was 11 years old and is still heavily involved now, being Europe’s most successful FIA Top Fuel Driver and having won the FIA European Top Fuel Championship 4 times. Mum Sarah Carter is also from a motorsport family.
Albert started quad bike riding aged just two and was bought his first Zip Bambino Kart at three years old. At four he started karting more earnestly, initially getting seat time in the pits at the race tracks where his Dad was competing on the European FIA series. In August 07 he then started attending Rye House Cadet Club in England, learning and getting track time on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
In October 08 the family went to America to help Albert get more experience in Karting. He attended private school whilst there but weekends and after school hours, were spent getting seat time at kart tracks or in the large American car parks. In December 08 he competed at his first proper race meeting at the world famous Daytona International Speedway, spending 4 days at the track practicing, qualifying at then racing on Sunday. What a place to have your debut race!
Back in England from February 09,Albert gained valuable seat time at tracks all over England Including Bayford Meadows, Tilbury, PFI, Wilton Mill and Red Lodge. In May 09 at just 6 years old Albert was talent spotted by Dan Faulkner of Zip Kart and in August was signed up by Martin Hines to their driver development program. Zip Kart have helped bring through many stars in Motorsport including, David Coulthard (F1), Anthony Davidson (F1), Gary Paffett (McClaren F1 Tester), Jason Plato (BTCC), Luke Hines(BGT), Mike Conway (Brit F3) and Lewis Hamilton (F1) .
2010 was again spent learning and gaining valuable seat time at tracks all over England with some time also spent Karting in America.
In April 2011 Albert turned 8 and then spent the next 12 weeks competing at club level to gain the 12 signatures needed to gain a National A Kart License, which allows him to compete at the highest level the British Championship for 8 to 13 year olds. Albert joined the British Super 1 Championship at the last 3 rounds, Clay Pigeon, Row Rah and Wilton Mill and did not disappoint!
2012 will see Albert competing in the full British Championship, the highest level for 8 to 13 year olds, as well as keeping himself in the seat at club races.
Away from karting, Albert is a real outdoor boy who loves playing football, riding his bike and generally not staying still!
Since 6 years old If you ask Albert what is wants to be, the answer comes back almost immediately
‘an F1 driver’.
Albert Carter is definitely a name to look out for in the future.
